Best known for his work as Conan O’Brien’s sidekick on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” “The Tonight Show,” and “Conan,” Andy Richter started out doing improv and sketch at Chicago’s Improv Olympic and The Annoyance Theater. After going to New York to star as Mike Brady in the staged “Real Brady Bunch Live,” he was soon hired for “Late Night” by Robert Smigel, where he stayed for seven seasons before branching out to see what else was out there. He headlined the critically acclaimed and aptly named “Andy Richter Controls the Universe” for FOX, as well as “Quintuplets” and the amateur sleuth comedy “Andy Barker, P.I.,” co-written and executive-produced by O’Brien. He’s guested on “Monk,” “The New Adventures of Old Christine,” “30 Rock,” and played a version of himself and multiple identical siblings on “Arrested Development.” He voiced Mort in both “Madagascar” movies, and appeared in the films “Elf,” “Cabin Boy,” “Pootie Tang” and “Talladega Nights.” Richter is making his sixth appearance at SF Sketchfest.
