Beth Lisick is a poet slam champion and she once opened for Neil Young with her spoken word act. She started off the Porchlight SF storytelling series seven years ago with Arline Klatte, her co-worker and cubicle-buddy at SFGate. Porchlight’s rules are simple — six storytellers spin ten-minute yarns based around one central theme. No memorization, no notes. Tonight, as part of SF Sketchfest, the series takes on the Purple Onion. Storytellers include: UCB funnyman Matt Besser, local comedian W Kamau Bell (who told the first ever joke about President Obama), and Oaklander and Playgirl writer Chelsea Peretti.
