The biggest comedy festival of the year kicks off tonight with The Upright Citizens Brigade’s ASSSSCAT, based on the troupe’s popular weekly long-form improv show. Tonight’s show will feature founders Matt Besser, Matt Walsh and Ian Roberts, who will be joined by guest improvisers Tim Meadows (Saturday Night Live), Andrew Daly (Eastbound and Down), Danielle Schneider (Players) and guest monologist Joshua Malina (Sports Night, The West Wing).

As for the rest of the weekend, you have three Celebrity Autobiography performances to choose from, which is always a festival favorite. Characters Only on Saturday night looks totally kooky, and we’re intrigued by Dr. God Improv with Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini, as well as Delocated Witness Protection Program Variety Show.

For some local flavor, there’s Porchlight Storytelling and SF Sketchfest in the Mission.

Laugh yourselves silly (or quietly groan in the corner — no one likes a heckler)!
