The Fresh Robots don’t make fun of Republicans. Nor, according to the sketch comedy team’s Web site (, do they make fun of Democrats, blacks, gays, Asians, Hispanics, whites, breeders, strippers, teenagers, smokers, politicians, Hollywood, corporations, rock stars, people, books, cars, wrestlers, handguns, bedspreads, java-jackets, loggers, or emotions. This should make things interesting for the [three] S.F.-based goofballs, who play the first annual San Francisco Sketch Comedy Festival (Sketchfest), a month-long extravaganza featuring six Bay Area teams. The Robots play four nights (plus the cabaret nights of Jan. 24-27, when all six groups perform), starting with Thursday’s friends-and-family preview.

Tonight’s show highlights two local troupes, the four-person Please Leave the Bronx (the punk rock grade-schoolers of sophisticated humor) and White Noise Radio Theatre. Judge the laughs for yourself at 8 or 10:30 p.m. at the Shelton Theater, 533 Sutter (between Powell and Mason), S.F. Tickets are $12 per show; call [information line] or visit
