Maulik Pancholy stars as Sanjay Patel, the overly enthusiastic and eager teen who is never afraid to take on a challenge, sometimes even to his own detriment, in Nickelodeon’s animated series “Sanjay and Craig.” Pancholy is best known for playing Jonathan on the multiple award-winning NBC comedy “30 Rock,” and for playing Sanjay on Showtime’s award-winning dramedy “Weeds.” Recently, he starred on the NBC comedy “Whitney,” was a series regular on Lifetime’s “HR” pilot, and had a recurring role on Showtime’s “Web Therapy.” He currently voices the character of Baljeet on the Disney Channel’s “Phineas & Ferb.” Other television credits include “The Good Wife,” “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” “The Comeback,” and “The Sopranos.” Pancholy has shared the SAG Award nomination for “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series” four times – three times with the cast of “30 Rock” (winning in 2009) and once with the cast of “Weeds.” On the big screen, Pancholy has appeared in numerous films such as “27 Dresses,” “Friends with Money” and “Hitch,” as well as several independent features. His many theater credits include the Off-Broadway productions of “Guantanamo: Honor Bound to Defend Freedom” (with the Culture Project), “Aunt Dan & Lemon” (with the New Group), and playing Romeo in Los Angeles Shakespeare Festival’s production of “Romeo & Juliet.” He recently completed a sold out run of “The Awake” at 59E59 Theater in New York. A graduate of Northwestern University’s Theatre program, Pancholy went on to get his MFA at the Yale School of Drama and trained with the renowned comedy improv group The Groundlings. He also travels extensively around the country delivering keynote speeches at universities, speaking particularly about his own journey as an actor and the entertainment industry’s evolving attitude towards minorities. Pancholy splits his time between New York and Los Angeles.
